This festival comes alive on the night of Esala Full Moon Poya, which typically falls in the month of July or August.

The procession is a mesmerizing spectacle, featuring elaborately adorned elephants, graceful dancers, talented musicians, and a myriad of traditional performers bedecked in resplendent costumes. They traverse the picturesque streets of Kandy, painting a vivid tapestry of Sri Lanka’s rich culture and heritage.

The pinnacle of this festival is the revered relic casket, carried through the city atop a majestic elephant. Inside is believed to rest the sacred tooth relic of Buddha. People from around the globe gather in Kandy to partake in this awe-inspiring display of lights, sounds, and vibrant colors, making it an unforgettable experience.
