Program Details

Immerse the afternoon with rich history, archaeology and architectural heritage of the Galle Fort with a Researcher and Building Archaeologist.

The colonists built several western style forts, mostly in and round the coast of the island, with the first being the Portuguese. These forts were captured and expanded by the Dutch, who was in turn captured and occupied by the British.

Your walk begins on the Ramparts, starting from the Dutch period, winding is way through ancient quarry’s and old dungeons. You’d also see a working lighthouse and learn about the Fort’s colorful history. The 150 years or rich history is apparent everywhere with streets of colonial villas protected by coral bastions and sounds of breaking waves just beyond.

As part of our unwavering dedication, we have pledged to plant a tree for every traveler who embarks on a journey with us, and since its inception, the ‘Brown Roots’ project has already seen the planting of over 3000 trees in the central province of Sri Lanka by the end of 2018.

Our resolve remains resolute, and with your invaluable support, we endeavour to further elevate this number in the years ahead. Join us in nurturing the very roots of nature’s grandeur.
